Inspired by the public's overwhelming response to its Free Seats promo for Davao and Kalibo, Philippines' AirAsia, the country's newest low cost carrier, today extended its Free Seats promo on its international destinations.  Under this promo, the seats are totally free with guest only paying for fuel surcharge, processing fee and government mandated fees such as aviation security fee and VAT.

All-in fare from Clark International Airport to AirAsia's international destinations starts at P400 for Hongkong and Macau, from as low as P1,290 for Kuala Lumpur and P5,639 for Australia via Fly-Thru service.

"Bargain hunters, budget travelers and holidaymakers will surely have a blast especailly since with our promos, planning a trip is easiest with our fares and rates all clearly laid out to our guests," AirAsia Inc. CEO Maan Hontiveros said.

The Free Seats promo on international destinations is available at www.airasia.com from 20 - 23 September 2012 and guests will be able to travel from 1 April to 30 September 2013.

The Fly-Thru service was introduced by AirAsia last year with connecting flight options from selected destinations in the AirAsia route network which spans across 18 countries and 76 destinations.  It allows guests to seamlessly connect on mutiple flight legs, on certain flights without needing to pass through immigration, collect bags, re check-in between flights or have a transit visa.  Bags will also be automatically checked through to the final destination.

Guest who will avail of the fly-Thru service will be charged with a minimal fee of P900 only which will already be included in the all-in fare upon booking via www.airasia.com while connecting time is expected to take less than 5 hours.  all connecting destinations will come from AirAsia's transit point in LCCT (Low Cost Carrier Terminal) in Kuala Lumpur.

Never miss out on updates about upcoming bargain deals by following AirAsia via Facebook and Twitter.

Philippines' AirAsia call center also accepts booking of regular fares via +632 588 999 from Monday to Sunday at 0800hrs to 2100hrs (GMT +8).  Guests from Metro Manila may also purchase seats through AirAsia Travel & Service Centers (ATSC) located in SM North EDSA in Quezon City, in Mall of Asia in Pasay City and in Gaisano Mall in Davao City.

Let's Move & Let's Love

One of my mommy-friends is doing an advocate to reach-out to the less-privileged kids of Negros.  She is an army wife and her husband is a batallion commander assigned in one area of Negros province thus she was able to witness the lives of the people in that place.

During her daughter's first birthday last July 2012 she requested her invited guests instead of giving birthday gifts for her daughter, we just donate ten pairs of slippers to be given to her charity cause.  The response was overwhelming as she was able to raise more than 2,000 pair of slippers.

Afterwhich through some photos shared to us, truly we knew we are able to make those kids in Negros happy getting their new pair of slippers.

In my desire to help her in her advocacy I joined her campaign such in my own little way I'll be able to help as well these kids. I have call on my friends as well and solicit support from them.  In my online mommy group, we are now having monthly campaign to raise pairs of slippers such before Christmas, we can make lots of kids happy again.

Giving can be in a big or little way, whatever manner it was, what 's important is our desire and big heart to share with others what we've got.

Just like the latest offering from United Colors of Benetton Perfumes "Let's Move" and be dynamic just like getting ourselves involved with various activities around.

. . . and "Let's Love", doing something that we like more and with our full heart.

What about you? how do you "move and love"?

Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs 2012

I've been into blogging since about a year ago. Initially I blog because I got enthusiasted with online contests and there are some of them who requires blog posts to share their giveaway.

After some months, I came to learned that there is more to blogging than joining giveaways.  I begin to read other blogs and get inspiration from them and at the same time self-educate myself e.g. how to install those blog widgets and applications.  Honestly, it took me time to use the "link" menu.

As I continue to read many different blogs all day long, I would like to share with you my top 10 choices and entry for the 2012 Emerging Influential Blogs.

1. Vivi's Random Ramblings (http://www.vivisrandomramblings.com/) - I like everything she is sharing on her blog especially her photos, they are so amazing and it seems taking me there on the exact location.  With her blog, I was able to travel more.

2. The Urban Walker (http://the-urban-walker.blogspot.com/) - I live in the province, some kilometers away from Metro Manila but I often go to the metro at least once a week.  Her blog is my guide on the know-how's for the latest happening in the metropolis.

3. Filipino Bloggers Worldwide (http://www.filipinobloggersworldwide.com/) - this blog has been essential for me because this is where I read tutorials that are very helpful for a newbie and not so-techie person like me.

4. The Purple Doll (http://www.thepurpledoll.net/) - Her foodie reviews are just so exciting to read.  It provides me enough information on must-try restos and food, even what's can be found in a simple food stall. It was particularly helpful for a picky eater like me, because even before I went to visit a particular eating place, first I would like to read reviews.

5. Two-sided Perspective (http://www.herbertkikoy.info/) - this blog was likewise helpful to me because it provides me some technical know-how especially all about SEO and to better appreciate social media.

6. Pinoy Pop Culture (http://www.pinoypopculture.com/) - this blog makes me more proud that I am a Filipino.

7. Eccentric Yet Happy (http://www.eccentricyethappy.info/) - her posts are just light and easy to read, a must-read when I just need some time to relax.

8. So Gelleesh (http://www.gelleesh.com/) - I am not a real fashionable person, but maybe a wannabe. I enjoy reading her blog especially when she shares about her make-up and clothings.  She was really able to carry herself well despite being a plus size, the confidence was really there.  she is such an inspiration to her readers.

9. Love Mindanao (http://lovemindanao.blogspot.com/) - this blog makes me more appreciate Mindanao.  His posts are so inspiring for his readers to learn more about Filipino culture like festivals and events from the south.  He likewise shares must-visit places that are so amazing and make me think that I should really have a Mindanao trip soon.

10. Pinay Thrillseeker (http://www.pinaythrillseeker.com/) - I envy her travel escapades, she's a real thrill-seeker.  Her love for travel and adventure can obviously be observed from her photos, her whereabouts and the situations she needs to braved.

That's it, these are my Top 10 personal choices.  Hoping all or even one of them can brag the award.

Chef Laudico's Dinner Party

Last night I am just one of the few privileged to get an invite for a dinner party with Chef Laudico.  The dinner is actually my prize from winning the Nuffnang blog writing contest. You can check out my entry here.

I just would like to share with you what Chef Lau has prepared for all his guests.

Appetizer Course: LUMPIANG UBOD CONES with FROZEN SPICY VINEGAR

Bistro Filipino's best-selling pica-pica made out of smoked etag pork and ubod with spicy vinegar granite.

I like the vinegar granite, its not really spicy at all. The lumpia is a twist from the usual as it is coned-shaped and served in small tall glassses.

Soup Course: ADOBO MUSHROOM CAPPUCCINO

Bistro Filipino's signature soup with garlic cream foam and adobo mushroom saute.

First time I tasted a soup that is adobo-inspired.

Salad Course: Three Kinds of MANGO SALAD with DIJON BAGOONG VINAIGRETTE

Organic greens and vegetables with bagoong dressing, ripe, green and dried mangoes and kasuy-crusted kesong puti.

A fusion of different tastes, this one alone makes me full.

Main Course: KITAYAMA WAGYU BEEF in SAMPALOK GLAZE served with TARO PUFF and OVEN-ROASTED TOMATOES

A different twist of our famous sinigang, the beef is very tender. The taro, "gabi" as we knew it was boiled, mashed and formed into patty-like, fried crispy on the outside but soft and chewy inside.

Dessert: BANANA CUE TART FLAMBE with LANGKA ICE CREAM and CARAMEL CRUNCH

Caramelized bananas with langka ice cream and rum flambe.

Prepared by Chef Jacqueline, wife of Chef Lau.  This ends up our dinner course for the night.  I am glad I still got room for this one.

Over-all, the dinner party was an exceptional experience for me. It is my first time at Bistro Filipino, the ambiance was awesome though the place was relatively smaller for the 90 people invited exclusively for this event.  But accordingly, this is an intimate dinner.  Yeah! I agree, we are seated closely with one another and rubbing elbows with famous local showbiz celebrities.

Chef Lau is an excellent party host, going around each and every tables to greet his guests, solicit comments and make sure we are comfy and having a good time.

Thank you Chef Lau for this souvenir and photo op with you.  I had an earlier chat with him and he was so amazed to know that a contest was held and there are bloggers who wrote about him.

Tinolang Tilapia

Honestly I am not into cooking because most of the time there's just the two of us at home, me and my little boy Ivan (hubby works overseas).  More often, I will bring in cooked food or I will go to my sister's house and have lunch or dinner with them.  Am I cost-efficient as well? LOL!

But since hubby is here for his annual vacation I need to do wifey duties, and one of them is cooking. OK! I am not a skilled cook but I can always perform my best.

Today's menu is "Tinolang Tilapia", are you familiar with this one?

How to cook "tinolang tilapia"? Its the very same method as when you cook "chicken tinola".  But let me share you my personal version.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pc medium size "chayote" cut into bite size
  • 1 pc medium tilapia, cleaned well and cut into halves
  • 1 pc onion sliced
  • few pieces of garlic, sliced
  • small piece of ginger, sliced
  • fish sauce (to taste)
  • 1 small bundle"sili" leaves, washed and trimmed
  • 2 cups rice washing
Directions:
  1. Saute onions, garlic and ginger
  2. Add chayote and rice washings
  3. Bring to a boil until chayote is tender but not overcooked
  4. Add "tilapia" and let it boil for another five minutes or until the fish is cooked
  5. Season with fish sauce
  6. Add "sili" leaves
  7. Serve

VITAPOPS: the Vitamin C that Rocks!

As a mom, I wanted to give my son healthy foods so that he will always have a strong immune system and healthy body.  For this I knew that there are widely available supplements that can provide the necessary nutrients not provided by food alone.

Motherhood is an enjoyable but difficult task.  Everyday you need to make sure that everything's accomplished in a right way.  Like, keeping our kids healthy and giving them the right food for proper nutrition.  The big challenge is, personally my little boy is a "picky eater".  I really find it difficult for him to eat properly, because until now he always wants milk . . . milk.  Other than that, at times he gets sick or not feeling well, medication time is tough as well because as per learning from his school books - medicines are bitter.

I am thankful that I've found VitaPops.

VITAPOPS - the Vitamin C that ROCKS!

What is VitaPops? It is the first and only vitamin C in pop rocks format in the market that guarantees full  protection while ensuring that kids enjoy the experience of taking it.  It really rocks because it fizzles and pops inside the mouth, so that's more fun.

VitaPops comes in single-dose (2g) sachet packaging thus less worry on spoilage or bottle breakage.  It is very handy and you can bring it anywhere.  Each sachet retails at P10.00 and contains 50mg of Vitamin C (as Sodium Ascorbate) making it non-acidic. It contains only 1/5 the amount of sugar found in regular vitamin C.

Unilab has come up with this type of product ho help moms like me. VitaPops makes taking vitamin C a fun and memorable experience.  It is the first and only pop rocks vitamin C in the country today mainly due to its unique format.

Kids as young as four years old, like my little boy Ivan can already take and enjoy VitaPops.  It can be taken 1 - 2 sachets per day or as directed by your pediatrician.  Is there a possible overdose? No, because vitamin C is water soluble so any excessive intake will be just excreted to through the urine. It will not cause any allergies nor irritation even when taken on an empty stomach. However, it is still best to consult your pediatrician in any case of untoward incident. VitaPops is now available at all leading drug stores nationwide.

VitaPops is best consumed within 2 years from date of production.  Solidification happens when the product is exposed to humidity and moisture.  Thus, to prevent this from happening, it is recommended to keep VitaPops in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

One sachet of VitaPops contain the same amount of vitamin C that you can get from 5 glasses of milk or 28 pieces of calamansi or 1 1/2 glasses of freshly squeezed orange.

Now my little boy Ivan enjoys taking his vitamin A more than ever.  He always wish he can have more than one sachet everyday.  For now I am just giving him one sachet daily.  The very first time he told me, "listen mommy, my mouth sizzles", and he really likes the experience.

So moms, make the big change now! Let your kids be healthy and nutrient filled in a fun-way.  Make them enjoy their vitamin C everyday.

Let's all rock with VitaPops now.
