Graduation Treats for Ivan

My son Ivan recently graduated from Nursery school garnering Fourth Honor in their class.

Being a proud mommy I gave him a dinner treat at Max's Restaurant at SM Calamba.   Remember my previous post on GCs that I am keeping for special occasions, well I used one of them here.

 We went there with my younger sister Jivveth and her 2 kids, Ymanne and JM. 

 

We ordered the Per Table Half Menu (P1,253.70) which includes the following dishes: Max's Fried Chicken,  Soup of the Day,  Pancit Canton,  Chopsuey,  Lumpiang Shanghai,  Plain Rice,  Caramel Bar. This set is good for 5 persons but does not include drinks.  You need to order additional drinks for this set menu. Actually the meal was more than enough for us because the kids don't each much. We just took home some of the food.

My little boy taking advantage of the occasion to get a taste of softdrinks.  Call me a strict mom or what? but he is not allowed softdrinks at home. Only when we dine out (and rarely he!he!he!) he can treat himself.  Only mommy can drink Coke.

 

The get away winner is the lumpiang shanghai, the kids like it so much.  Honestly I never get to taste them.  Accordingly, it tastes real nice.  See that little boy, both hands holding the lumpiang shanghai.

Ivan's Nursery Graduation

This is my son Ivan when he was just 45 days old.

And this is Ivan today, recently graduating from Nursery School.

We opted to give him an early education, thus he began his formal schooling at age 3.  Because we knew, in our current world (considered as the digital age), there are a lot of things that he already needs to learn apart from everything we are teaching him at home.

Almost all parents say this "education is the only gift we can give to our children", and we would like to adhere to this.  We would like our son to have the best education, to prepare him for his future.  So that someday, when he is already grown-up, he can decide for himself whatever he wants.

This is my first graduation ceremony as a mom myself, yeheyy!  Just like any other parents who were there today at the MonteVista Resort (venue of graduation),  I cannot contained my excitement.  Its just a bit sad that Ivan's dad cannot be with us on this very memorable day.  He is working overseas, earning a living for all of us.

The kids themselves were all so excited.

I kept on nagging at Ivan because he is always holding his graduation cap, afraid that it will fall off from his head. 

Primarily, I would like to thank his ever patient teacher/adviser for taking care of Ivan for the last ten months.  For the guidance she has provided and for instilling into our son, essential first steps of his formal education.

Likewise, for all the other teachers and staff at Smartkids Integrated School for providing a second home for Ivan.

Wonderin' what's that green lump on his forehead? well he bumped into a wall 2 days ago. Talking about being an active and sometimes naughty kid.

But we are always proud of you Ivan.

Sportswear Attire

Next week Ivan will be joining the sportsfest activity in their school.  His teacher had just told me that he is one of the candidates for "Little Mr. Sportsfest".  Ha! ha! therefore he needs to have a sportswear attire, some talent to show and a bright mind for the question and answer.

Anyway, I need to think over and over what should possibly be his attire.  I don't like the "basketball" wear because it is just too common, neither I don't want to spend some money just to buy new set of clothes.  What I did is just to go over his cabinet, and voila!

I found this never worn pair of white shirts/shorts, it was given during his baptism.  Gladly, it still fits him and I just bought the headband and the wristband for P20.00 in a SST just across the street.  His racket, found among the files of toys and I got an instant TENNIS PLAYER. Does he look like the veteran champion Andre Agassi or Rafael Nadal?

For the talent portion, he will dance "Baby Baby" by Justin Bieber :D hahayz no big deal.

Proud Mommy Again!

Just wanted to share my wonderful feeling!!!

Got my little boy's report card (1st quarter) yesterday.

The pick-up schedule was supposed to be last Saturday   (Sept. 17) but I totally forgot about it because I was busy accompanying my niece (Ymanne) in her inter-school (Calamba District) Math Olympiad.

So his teacher handed me the report card and she told me,       top 1 "po".

"Huh???" did I heard it right? so I asked the teacher what was it she's telling me?

"Si Ivan po ang Top 1"

OMG, so I heard it right and I was really surprised.

So my 3 year old little boy is really doing great in his nursery school.

Even he is not particular with reviewing his lessons, more so, learning how to write.

In fact he is the youngest in the class.

One more thing, he is "bulol".

Daddy and mommy are so proud of you, our little baby.

Keep it up and study hard always.

Agosto: Buwan ng Wika

What was there to celebrate this month of August? I learned from grade school (ha!ha! that's way way back) that every month we are celebrating the August month as "Buwan ng Wika" because this is the birth month of Manuel L. Quezon. 

 

He is known as "Father of the National Language". Born August 19, 1878 in Baler, Tayabas. He is the first Filipino President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines under the US occupation. He graduated from Law School, became an Assemblyman, a Senator and in 1935 Quezon won the Philippine's first national presidential election under the banner of the Nacionalista Party. Whew! such an achievement, and if you are listening to your Social Studies teacher, I bet you know all of these.  I think this subject is now called Sibika.

Anyway, so my 3y old son who is in nursery school is having his share of the Buwan ng Wika celebration.  He is required to memorize a poem and a tagalog song.  Actually mommy giay is having difficulty because he doesn't want to memorize nor sing.  Ivan told me, he'll just join the coloring contest.  Actually last month, he won 2nd place in their Nutrition month Coloring Contest Activity.  I shared that here.

Ako ay Pilipino, Filipino ang wika ko

Wikang dapat ipagmalaki kahit na kanino

Saan mang dako ng mundo di ikakahiya ito

Nutrition Month

I just would like to share my son's participation in their school program in celebration of the Nutrition Month.

They were suppose to have a parade around the village showing off their hand-carried healthy and nutritious food items.  My son was assigned to bring GO foods, carbohydrates that is, so I put a loaf of bread in his basket. 

But the rain poured heavily even before we were able to begin the parade, so instead of doing the parade, all parents and students and school staff headed to the village covered court for the program.

The Nursery pupils performed a dance number.  I was so proud of my son, the very first time he did this and not shy at all.  He is actually the smallest and youngest kid in their class.

 The program highlight is the awarding of certificates to contest winners.  I was so surprised my son won two categories.  He got 3rd place in the "Nutrition Quiz Bee" and 2nd place for "Coloring Contest".  Not bad for 3y old like him, huh!

And yeah! he posed with the Jollibee mascot along with his classmates, sharing his own excitement. 

The teachers actually had a bit difficulty controlling the kids when Jollibee come out and did his dance number on stage.  More so, when he went down for the meet and greet with the kids.  The principal took over ha!ha! and everyone had their share of the photo moments with the mascot.

When we reached home, Ivan told me to take some more pictures to show off for his daddy.

We love you baby Ivan, Daddy and Mommy are so proud of you. Be a good kid always.

First Day of School

June 6 marks the day Ivan formally enters school.  It will be a new world for him, new faces, new challenges.

His new school is just located within the village.  Smart Kids Integrated School (B89 L25 Ph4 Villa de Calamba, Lamesa, Calamba City, Laguna), owned and managed by Ms. Margie Almazan

.

This will be the door he will enter for his schooling for the next 10 months.

Used to be his school service in going to his toddler class last month, now we just take a tricycle ride.  The school is not really far from home but I think will be tiring for Ivan to walk going there.

 Recess time: enjoying his Dutch Mill yoghurt milk and biscuits.  That his usual "baon" to school.  Lately, after his school hours he is requesting me to rush home because he wanted to take his "mimi" (milk).

Watch for my next post, Ivan will start wearing his school uniform next week.  Mommy giay is excited to see him in his new suit.  My neighbor friends as well would like to know how he will look like in his school polo, shorts and matching black shoes. 

Friday Swimming Time

Ivan is attending a Toddler's Summer Class just within the village.  It will be a one-month summer class, daily from 9:00 to 10:30 in the morning.


Monday to Thursday there are play and learn lesoons (please view my other posts).  Friday is swiiming time. Yeheyy!!!

They put up an inflatable pool where the kids can enjoy together with Teacher Assistant Ate MJ.

Hmmmm . . . I wish Teacher Bhel will allow moms to dip in the pool too . . . envy ha!ha!

Ivan's School Pojects: Week 1

These are the things Ivan did in school for Week 1.  Its all about shapes and colors.  Teacher Bhel commented Ivan is very careful in doing his colors.  Yes! its not messy.
