Chef Laudico's Dinner Party

Last night I am just one of the few privileged to get an invite for a dinner party with Chef Laudico.  The dinner is actually my prize from winning the Nuffnang blog writing contest. You can check out my entry here.

I just would like to share with you what Chef Lau has prepared for all his guests.

Appetizer Course: LUMPIANG UBOD CONES with FROZEN SPICY VINEGAR

Bistro Filipino's best-selling pica-pica made out of smoked etag pork and ubod with spicy vinegar granite.

I like the vinegar granite, its not really spicy at all. The lumpia is a twist from the usual as it is coned-shaped and served in small tall glassses.

Soup Course: ADOBO MUSHROOM CAPPUCCINO

Bistro Filipino's signature soup with garlic cream foam and adobo mushroom saute.

First time I tasted a soup that is adobo-inspired.

Salad Course: Three Kinds of MANGO SALAD with DIJON BAGOONG VINAIGRETTE

Organic greens and vegetables with bagoong dressing, ripe, green and dried mangoes and kasuy-crusted kesong puti.

A fusion of different tastes, this one alone makes me full.

Main Course: KITAYAMA WAGYU BEEF in SAMPALOK GLAZE served with TARO PUFF and OVEN-ROASTED TOMATOES

A different twist of our famous sinigang, the beef is very tender. The taro, "gabi" as we knew it was boiled, mashed and formed into patty-like, fried crispy on the outside but soft and chewy inside.

Dessert: BANANA CUE TART FLAMBE with LANGKA ICE CREAM and CARAMEL CRUNCH

Caramelized bananas with langka ice cream and rum flambe.

Prepared by Chef Jacqueline, wife of Chef Lau.  This ends up our dinner course for the night.  I am glad I still got room for this one.

Over-all, the dinner party was an exceptional experience for me. It is my first time at Bistro Filipino, the ambiance was awesome though the place was relatively smaller for the 90 people invited exclusively for this event.  But accordingly, this is an intimate dinner.  Yeah! I agree, we are seated closely with one another and rubbing elbows with famous local showbiz celebrities.

Chef Lau is an excellent party host, going around each and every tables to greet his guests, solicit comments and make sure we are comfy and having a good time.

Thank you Chef Lau for this souvenir and photo op with you.  I had an earlier chat with him and he was so amazed to know that a contest was held and there are bloggers who wrote about him.
